Where it all began

Where it all began

It was whilst building large sandstone residences in Sydney in the 1980s, Nu-Rock founder, Maroun Rahme began his quest to modernise building product technology.

Realising that masonry product manufacturing had not advanced in centuries, Maroun started looking for smarter and more innovative alternatives to traditional cement and clay-based products. A student of architectural history, Maroun was intrigued by the extraordinary strength and durability of ancient Phoenician buildings.

Maroun self-funded extensive research and years of product trials. He officially developed the first version of the award-winning Nu-Rock ‘Formulated Rock’ technology in 1990 and he has been refining and improving it ever since.

For 27 of the 32 years Maroun has been developing and improving Nu-Rock Technology he was also building commercial and residential buildings in Australia and overseas with Nu-Rock products. The first full scale Nu-Rock block plant commenced operations in 1999 in South Africa. The plant produced over 30 thousand buildings from commercial to affordable housing projects.

Today, Maroun Rahme is the owner and CEO of Nu-Rock Corporation which maintains the focus on all Nu-Rock IP and Technology R&D as well as allocating licences for Nu-Rock projects and territories globally. Maroun is also a proud shareholder and board director of Nu-Rock Building Products Australia.
